Website that is full of great mathematical resources and lessons on measurement!

I Love That Teaching Idea Website has a list of online resources and lesson plans for educators to use across all curriculum subjects, not only math. On the website, it gives a list of idea directories giving teachers ideas from math lesson plans to learning centre ideas. If you look further into the math section of the website it uses literature as the foundation to all their lessons and each lesson contains an art aspect of the lesson. In one lesson plan it uses the book “Inch by Inch” by Leo Lionni and invites students to measure objects around the classroom using a worm that the children can create (art component). The website it a good tool for educators to use as it uses a multidisciplinary approach to mathematics, where art and literature is included.
Supporting Children's Learning of Measurement
This website can help support both educators and children’s learning of the mathematical concept measurement by looking at measurement outside of math and how it can be seen in literature and in art. By taking this concept and exploring how it can be used and seen in areas outside of the curriculum the children will be able to connect with the concept of measurement as it can be seen in their daily lives through the books they read, the crafts they made, and in their community. These lesson plans will help educators plan for activities that calls attention to measurement in literature and can support children by looking at measurement in a literacy lens. Furthermore, it not only allows the educator to make connections across curricula’s, but also support the children’s ability to connect concepts in a multidisciplinary way. Lastly, it supports children’s learning about non-standard measurement as they are using their art piece as a non-standard unit and measuring objects in the classroom with it.
